Solsida

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 May 2026

TL;DR

Solsida does not collect, store, or share any personal data. The only sensitive permission it uses is location, and your location stays on your device. If you choose to leave a tip, the purchase is processed by Google Play — Solsida itself never sees your payment details.

What we don't do

What the app does access

Permission Why Where it goes
Location (precise / approximate) Show the blue dot indicating where you are on the map. Used in-memory only. Never leaves your phone.
Internet Download map tiles and address search results. Standard map traffic to public services (see below).
Billing Optional in-app tip jar. Handled entirely by Google Play. Solsida never receives payment information.

Third-party services

When you use the app, your device communicates with the following providers solely to render the map:

These services see the same kind of HTTP requests any web map sends them (tile coordinates, search queries). They do not receive identifying information beyond standard request metadata (your IP address, user agent), and Solsida does not pass them anything else. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

The building heights used to draw shadows are derived from Lantmäteriet's open Laserdata (CC0) and are bundled with the app — no network call is made to obtain them.

Tips and in-app purchases

Solsida includes an optional tip jar. All purchases are processed by Google Play; Solsida never sees your card number, billing address, or any other payment details. After the first successful tip the app stores a single flag in your device's local storage so a small easter-egg dachshund (Kurt) persists between sessions — that flag never leaves your device. You can turn Kurt off in the info menu without affecting your tip status.

Children

Solsida is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, regardless of age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL where you found this one, with the updated date at the top.
